Welcome to Maths 1

Maths 1

Maths 1 runs in week long blocks. A block starts with an online lecture on Thursday and ends at midday on the following Wednesday.

In the block you have:

Online Lecture

There is an online lecture every week on Thursday morning from 9am to 11am. The lecture is normally in three parts. Part 1 tells you about the content. In part 2 we go into break out rooms for you to try some examples. Part 3 is back in the main room where we will go over how to answer your tutorial questions. We take videos of parts 1 and 3. These are available on Blackboard.

We keep a register of who attends the online lecture.

In Person Tutorials

There is an in person tutorial every week. Some people have the tutorial on a Tuesday, some on a Wednesday. In person tutorials are your opportunity to ask questions. Your questions could be about that week's tutorial or anything else to do with the module.

We keep a register of who attends the in person tutorials.

Online Tutorials

There is an online tutorial every week. You can access the tutorial by clicking the Tutorials button on the navigation bar above.

Everyone gets different questions and Babbage's marker tries to help you if your answer is not correct. Your answers are marked everytime you save them.

Once it is open the tutorial page remains available to help with your revision but your coursework mark is taken from your answers at midday on Wednesday.

Assessment

There are 2 parts to your assessment:

There are 10 tutorials. Tutorials become available each week. You have one week to complete the tutorial and it must be completed by midday on Wednesday.
